To bad that you think you can't recreate when you are in your S&B. And how awful to be someplace where you can't have fun. What a downer.
Have you ever lived in a S&B?
If so, and if you did/do live on country acreage, have you ever experienced:
1) .... Your (only) well and/or spring running dry or nearly dry at the end of nearly every summer so you had to handle the logistics and expense of buying water until the winter rains come?
2) .... Painstakingly having to prune the orchard every spring?
3) .... Carefully, so as to not burn yourself or your neighbors up each spring, having to burn the piles of prunings each spring?
4) .... Had to cut up redwood widon-maker limbs in the morning to get out of your driveway after huge wind storms?
5) .... Had to clear the drains under your driveway with shovels in the pouring down rain during each major winter storm?
6) .... Had to wrap multiple outside water spigots with insulation every fall in case of winter freezes?
7) .... Had to clear roof gutters 25 feet above the ground and along roof angles to great to do it from the top?
8) .... Had to make sure the attic is kept securely sealed (other than air access) so roof rats can't run around up there?
9) .... Had to periodicly enlarge the hole in the deck (including the joints and/or beams under it) to make more room for the oak tree growing up through it?
10) .... Had to arrange and (afford to) hire a large crew to remove snapped off 100 foot redwoods that barely missed stuff that fell during bad storms?
11) .... Had to have your septic tank pumped?
12) .... Had to treat your septic tank with bacteria every month for 35+ years?
13) .... Had to continually repair the combination racoon/deer fence to keep the racoons/deer from eating your plants, garden, and fruit trees into the ground continuously?
14) .... Had to pay for complete discing of your meadow each spring to keep the fire danger down each summer?
15) .... Had to treat your S&B's main fresh water storage tank with chlorine every Friday to make any bacteria/viruses dead?
16) .... Had to keep your S&B's backup generator gased up, it's battery charged, and exercised so you have some electricity during winter or summer power outages?
17) .... Had to walk 150 feet to check/watch your S&B's propane tank meter to make sure you don't run out of gas just in case the "auto-fill" program is based on estimates that don't match you usage rates accurately enough?
18) .... Had to sand and stain your S&B's decks every 3-4 years to keep them from rotting away?
19) .... Etc.?
20) .... Etc.?
However .... taking all the above into account, of course we enjoy living where we do and consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to live here .... and have no plans to move. HOWEVER, as far as we're concerned, the true deep-down rich "recreation" only occurs when we're out and about foot-loose and fancy-free in our RV!!
