Are you sure this is the only outlet that does not work? If so, then unplug everything from the outlet and disconnect the ground, the black and white wires at the breaker box. Ohm each wire to see if they are all shorted to ground. IF only the black wire is shorted then unlike what you'll hear in some future posts, use the unshielded ground wire as your white/neutral and the good white wire as your black wire hooked to the breaker. Do the same at the outlet. I know this is not to CODE, but how did we made it through many decades with only two wires in a circuit? The two items on this circuit are low amp items.
