I would let off just as it stops and don't try to pull it together real tight.
If it had the clutch system, you would hear several rather loud bangs as it stops.
Bedroom slide may or may not be the same. If you see an aluminum track(s) on the exterior sides of the slide then it's the Schwintek system.
No such tracks and it will most likely be the same kind of R&P type.
Schintek = hold down switch 3~5 seconds after it stops.
All other types = release switch as soon the slide stops.
