A Different Tire Question / Research

Rookie RVer :C here with a different tire question / research.........is there a such thing as a "quiet tire" for Class A motor home? I understand tire size, what the numbers mean, the year, etc. but I want to invest in quality "quiet tires". I want to get a smooth, quiet ride instead of a rough truck tire type of ride. Is there a such thing? Plan to purchase six tires some time this upcoming week; no later than the weekend. Also, does the function of the shocks contribute to what I want to achieve....."smooth, quiet ride"? (2008 Winnebago Vistat 30B, weird tire size of 19.5)

Thank you in advance.....
  • I ran Bridgestone 19.5's on an Adventurer and they were pretty quiet. On my two DP's I have used Michelin XZA2 and Hankook AH-12's. Both gave a smooth and quiet ride.
  • I run Michelin tires on my rigs. F-550, F-450, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and Corvette. Trucks are 19.5" rims. On the trucks the ride quality is dependent on the tire pressure I'm running depending on the load I'm hauling or towing. More pressure, stiffer ride.
  • In general, there are steer tires and drive tires. The drive tires are the ones that make the most noise because they have a more aggressive thread pattern to grip in wet and slippery conditions.

Most class A owners put steer tires on all rims because, for the most part, we don't need the traction. Although I've never owned a set for an RV, I would expect (based on price) that Michelin to be the quietest. The Yokos I have on the Sahara do give off a whine at certain speeds.
