Hi Everyone!New to the Forum and new to Rv'ing!Just purchased a 2004 Holiday Rambler 30PDD and absolutely love the thing, except for one thing. The cruise control does not work. I know, I know, some of you may stop reading because I am bringing up a topic that has been covered numerous times. Trust me, I have been reading but have hit a dead end.I have followed all the suggestions (which 75% are the same) I have been reading and I do not know what else to look for.I have replaced the pressure switch at the master cylinder and I just replaced the switches at the steering wheel. Cruise still does not work.I do not see a switch around the brake pedal that has been suggested that wont let cruise work if not adjusted properly, and I read that there is no Vacuum module for the cruise on the 2004 Ford V10.Is there something else I can look at? (the spedo and overdrive work just fine so I don't not think it would be the SS in the tranny)Any help would be so much appreciated as it would be such a joy to drive that beast with Cruise Control working.Hope to hear from you, and thanks in advance for any help/direction!

Ford does NOT use an adjustable stop light switch. The switch is at the juncture of the brake pedal arm and the linkage going forward to the master cylinder. Don't listen to the Chebby guys.Do you stop lights work? The cruse control needs to see a ground signal from the stop light wires when the stop lights are off.Could it be some one replaces the incandescent stop light bulbs with LEDs?Richard

when our CC stopped working on our previous MH (2000 ford f53) i found that a vaccuum hose had split and became disconnected from the vaccuum tank.

I know this sounds off but you didn't mention if you checked the fuses..? I have two, one inside 10amp and a second in the main panel by the engine.

The stop light switch has 12 volts on it. When it's closed it supplies 12 volts to the turn signal switch and goes from there to the rear brake lights and too the CC. So when it's closed it puts 12 volts to the CC and makes it cut off. Check it with a 12 volt tester. I do believe you have a vacuum pump because the V10 can't provide vacuum to work any thing. AC for instance. Its usually over on the left inner fender. As someone suggested check to see if the CC has vacuum.

Ford stopped using vacuum operated cruise control awhile ago. If you do not have an electronic throttle body (throttle-by-wire) you probably have a standalone cruise control module.First, is there 2 cables going to the throttle ? If yes, one is for the accelerator pedal and the other goes to the cruise control servo. It should look something like this.The "smarts" are usually in a separate metal housed boxed mounted on the the left hand inner fender.I could not find a wiring diagram for an F53 chassis, but I did find one for an E450. On the cruise control servo, pin 7 Hot in Run. Pin 4 is Hot At All Time when the brake pedal is depressed. Pin 9 is Hot In Run when the the brake pedal is NOT depressed. Pin 10 is ground.Likely one of these 2 is bad. They are not expensive in junk yards.There is a third "shot in the dark". Around that time, Ford had an issue with fires caused by the brake pressure switch. This switch was a backup to the brake pedal switch (if both tail lights were not functioning, the CC could not tell you had stepped on the brake except for this backup). The "field service" fix was to install a short jumper with an inline fuse going to this brake pressure switch mounted under the master cylinder.

if I can find that servo to see if the connector is loose. can't find one because you don't use vacuum systems all now are controlled by computer. that is why you installed a control module. Many are still stuck in the past with advise.

Hi All!

Sorry for the delayed response but I finally fixed my CC issue! It was in fact the cruise control module, which was at the front most of the motor. Looks like the bracket was bolted to the radiator support. With a lot of patience I managed to get the old one out and re-install a new one and it worked!
I am back in business!

Hi Stranger!

I was able to find and replace the brake light switch, thanks to your pics!! Unfortunately my rig is stored for the winter!!

So I wont be able to check to see if it works until next spring. This weekend I hope to drive out to the storage place and pop the dog house off too see if I can find that servo to see if the connector is loose.

Hopefully my new switch shows up before the weekend. My RV is stored for the winter now and is 1/2 hour away, but I will try what I can before snow falls!

The brown connector is the one. The YELLOW spring clip is critical. It MUST be reused.

On my 2001 Bounder (F53) when cruise was active, if we hit a bump, the cruise would cut off but the brake lights would not activate. Tried putting a Bunjee cord on the pedal to hold it up, wasn't the issue.

Put in a new Brake light switch, no more problems.

Just ordered a new switch, its cheap enough to give it a try. I assume this switch is on at or near the brake pedal/steering column?

This is just what I needed. I will pop off the dog house this weekend and see what I got under there. I sure hope its unplugged and the fix is that easy.

Hi, I found the module by following the cable connected at one end, at the pedal, rotating braket. the cable is long and makes a U going from the left side, at the gas pedal braket, to the right side

I just checked out and it was accessed from the engin cover removed and stretching myself to the firewall level. I had to remove the air tubes going to the intake.

I will try and get a picture or video for you.Like you, i do not know how to share, ther must be free ways.
