battery

what kind of battery can I replace my house battery with, does it matter weather I used a car battery or marine battery
  • You really need a deep cycle battery - not a starting battery.
  • Trojan. 6 volt (2). T-105. And that is all I have to say about that!!
  • Dan, spend an hour reading about batteries and RVs. "(D)oes it matter weather I used a car battery or marine battery?" is just such a basic question. Yes, it matters, and "marine" batteries aren't really what you need but certainly not a "car" battery.
  • You should have two of the largest deep cycles that will fit. Six volt golf carts have some advantages but often they are too tall for the space available.

  • car batteries don't hold charge all that well when drained. they're designed to use their peak power for a short time, then recharge. deep cycle work better for charging then discharged over a long period of time. I'm not explaining this correctly, there are articles on the difference. bottom line, both will work, one better than the other.

    RIGHT!

"Deep Cycle" "Trolling Motor" etc - Starting your Generator is OK with these

Its "Rating" should show "Amp-Hours" not "Cranking Amps"

Try NOT to have "Starting" in its designation since there are "Combination" batteries that really aren't good at either.

If you have space for two batteries, look into a pair of SIX Volt ones that you connect in Series for 12 Volts. A pair of 12 Volt, connected in parallel, just don't seem to "Play Well Together."

We have room for only one battery. We don't boondock, so one battery fills the bill for us very well. I get the 12 Volt Deep Cycle from WalMart. They last me several years because I'm lucky that our OEM Converter/Charger doesn't boil it.

WM's batteries probably are not the very best, but the availability and price made them very desirable for me. If I need a battery, there's almost always a WM nearby and it's probably open 24 Hours.
