From what I have read the blow outs may be linked to improper removal of the 'original' plugs. Apparently the threads can be damaged when the originals are removed and the new ones can't hold properly so they blow out. There were a number of fixes for this depending on the year of your engine. Ours was close to the end of the problem at 2002. I believe that Ford mechanics have special tools now that make this damage less likely to happen.
X2 - BobandShazExplorerOur first RV was a 1999 same model as yours we loved it. Have fun.

Congrats on your new to you Class C motor home! :C
You are going to love the convenience of owning a MH.
I have the V-10 also and have not experienced the plug blow out. Nt a scientific study but from reading this forum over they years I think I read about one.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. Tune up is advised at 100,000 so IMHO I don't plan on changing any plugs any time soon!
The plugs have blown out while driving. A defect in the heads. - rockhillmanorExplorerCongrats on your new to you Class C motor home! :C

First question how old are the tires.
Tread depth irrelevant.
Any tire over 7 years old is very suspect.
Usually RV tires age out not wear out.
7 years you are chancing a blowout which can be very expensive.
Very carefully check around the front overhang window for leaks some units developed them from normal running.
It's a old couple who is selling it, they just put a new roof on (due to a branch that they backed into, no water damage insurance covered it) they put all new belts in, all new batteries, and have all service records.only issue is the generator will not start from the inside, apparently when the roof was replaced they disconnected it while repairing. Tires are also only a year old. All reasons why I'm buying privately rather than from a dealer which you can't determine if it's been maintained or not. My only concern is the reliability. They've never had problems with it but I have read about the spark plugs on the v10 fords blow out? Assuming that would have happened by now if it was going to.. - stew9483ExplorerCongrats! Wishing you many happy miles in your Class C!
