Change for us

Good morning all. We have changed our rig. We now have a 2013 Heartland Landmark Mesa fifth wheel 40', pulled by a 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500HD DuraMax diesel 1 ton, dual rear wheels, crew cab, loaded. The C was great, vut we are spending a lot more time on the road and decided we wanted more living space. We are out amost 10 months of the year now. Both the coach and the truck are in excellent condition. Both look almost brand new. We are having so much fun with this change. Still moving stuff from the C to the 5th wheel. No hurry. Won't be long and back on the road.
  • lilys, oh for sure a backup camera will be installed. also side view camera that work with the blinkers. Have that on my mh, love it.
  • Hi PartyofFive. We hope to take the new rig out sometime next month for a trial run. Can't get away until then. I really don't expect any changes in out travel patterns. But time will show. The tow is a great toad. You don't know its back there until you look at the backup camera screen.
  • Hi Mandalay Parr. We are planning a tour of the west, Hopefully next year. Yep, we are enjoying the new ride.
  • Hi bobnddot. We are have ablast with the new rig..And it does have the W/D. Brenda has already used it for a trail run. NICETake care and have fun.
  • Best of luck with your new rig, sounds like a nice setup, you'll love that truck, it will be a solid tow.
After owning a fiver, I agree it's nice to have more room when living in it full or almost full time. It's nice to be able to use your own laundry facilities if it has a W/D.
Whenever we had a large rv, we spent more time inside. When we had smaller rv's like our TC's and now the small C , we spent and now spend our time outside. Either way works.
Be careful with the weather, these storms that hit us are so strong and devastating. When the threat shows it's ugly face, vacate. You can always come back and you might be the only one with your rubber on the ground.

Best wishes and don't be a stranger here. This is a great reminder to be thankful how lucky we all are to be able to enjoy what we do.

  • Congratulations! We've considered the same and would be curious to see how your travels patterns change. If your toad becomes obsolete, we might have an interest in it as well. Enjoy!
