Change Shurflo pump on 1998 Safari Sahara .

I think the pump is located up under the plumbing bay , I also think I may have froze mine as it was new last year and now has very little pressure .
Is it something I can tackle to change it out with another new one ,,,apparently it's quite a bear to get at ??
  • Wolfe 10 reply is right on the money as far as location and ease of access. Being a 98 I would replace the pump. Yours is probably worn out. Shurflo used to make a head only for jobs like this. Somewhat cheaper than the whole pump and motor. I don't know if that is still available.
  • If your 1998 Safari Sahara is like our 1997 Sahara, remove the transverse panel (carpeted plywood) on the front side of the wet bay.

The pump is then easily accessed.

That is right but if you go by Lowes or Home Depot you can get pre-made extension hoses to extend the input and output lines that MAY enable you to relocate your pump to a more accessible location. I was able to find two 18" braided stainless hoses, with the right couplers to attach directly to my Shurflo pump, and relocate it right to the front of the basement compartment, if any future problems arise.

  • In addition to cleaning the screens at each one of your faucets, some Shurflo pumps have an inlet filter attached right to the pump itself.
  • If you have very little pressure, have you tried removing the screens from the outlets? Mine get filled with calcium from hard water and that reduces the pressure and flow at the faucet.
  • I doubt that is the problem...if it froze up it would have split and leak
