chassis battery tie down

I have 2008 gulfstream independence to charge them and like an idiot did not mark the third lead as positive or negative don't want to put it on the wrong post any help would be appreciated it's a red lead and should be positive but I seam to remember it as negative if you know let me know. thaks
  • Do you have a battery boost switch? If so, hit the switch and hook up a light bulb between one of the cables and the chassis. If the light turns on, that is the hot lead. If it doesn't, try the other one.
  • If possible trace the wire and see where it goes to, that should tell you whether it is positive or negative. JMO

ODDS are it is a positive.. However.. Try this.

Leave it loose for the moment and protected.

Do the steps work? (likely no)
Does the Generator start (likely yes)
Does the ENGINE start (likely yes).

If something does not work,, Try positive.

ALso, with the RV plugged in, Check for voltage on the lead.
