- PastorCharlieExplorerThe question is about Ford chassis whether all manfu. use the same one.
Do all Class A manufacturers use the same Ford chassis or
does each RV manufacturer have their own individual requirements?
Ford makes four chassis and each is used for different RV requirements.. - J-RoosterExplorer

He did mention Ford so I think that would not include friegthliner. - jeffoExplorerHe did mention Ford so I think that would not include friegthliner.
- jerseyjimExplorerMy Ford F53 (Dolphin) has a rating of 20,500. A friends F53 (Flair) has a rating of 18,000.

Did I miss something? The OP asks about Class A chassis - wouldn't that include Freightliner since he didn't specify just gassers?
Bill - PastorCharlieExplorerFord has four different chassis each with different frame strength metals, suspensions, brakes, etc.
- Dale_TravelingExplorer IIAt the moment Ford is the only available large scale gas chassis manufacture for the class A market. Workhouse (owned by NaviStar) ended production I think in 2010 or so leaving only Ford.
Coach builders may alter the chassis as provided by Ford slightly but they have to ensure any changes do not void the Ford warranty and liability. About the only modification you'll see is adding a few feet of frame to the rear rather than buying the next larger chassis. - tderonneExplorerFord makes a few variations. RV manufactures order what they need. RV manufacturers often alter the wheelbase to suit their needs, if Ford doesn't offer what they want.
2014 F53 brochure - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIThere are a lot of variations depending on the wheelbase required for the coach. Basically the engine and transmission remain the same but things like the rear end ratio and accessories can change, depending on the manufacturers requirements for their particular floor plan.
