Depends on the miles you drive, with savings of $2.50 and up a gallon, some would recoup it in a year or so. With a gas well in your backyard I don't know what your savings might be.

Let's say 10 mpg (for ease of math), would you gain it back in 40,000 miles or so, or I am dropping a decimal point?

So gas/diesel would need to be $5.00 more than cng for it to work for most RVers, I guess. Perhaps before that happens we will have cheaper alternate fuels.

Waste Management has converted its fleet here in S. Florida to CNG. The engines are Cummins ISL based built by Cummins Westport.

The fueling station for retail sales is built, but I do not know if they have started selling to the public. I read an article while back that Waste Management will offer retail sales at all of their fleet locations in the future.

I have read where CNG is being rolled out at truckstops...so maybe the infrastructure is being built as we speak.

Natural gas is CH4, is lighter than air and has significantly different properties than propane.

The Waste Management "Clean Green Machines" are rolling on our streets down here every day.

It is your last sentence that says so much. The government uses our tax dollars to pick winners and losers, shaping the market. Solar, ethanol, electric, wind, etc. would not be a consideration withou taxpayer subsidy.

They are selling the new cng in gasoline gallon equivalents, from 18 to 24, claiming the same millage and range in a pickup. Most are dual fuel and have both gas and cng tanks, claiming a range of 900 miles, but with an upcharge of $10,000. With a single fuel class A the tank could replace both the gas/diesel and propane and be of sufficient size to run a full day. It should be somewhat cheaper to buy, but with a gge of cng at less than $2.00 it still might make sense.

Thats old news. We ran propane for years but you need hard seats and valves or it eats them due to the lack of lubricant. I know a buy who will add propane to a Duramax for added fuel mileage and HP but I don't have the Dead Presidents to do the conversions and then 1 X a yr have it calibrated. Takes up too much room in the pickup bed for a propane tank and even more room for CNG as it ahs to be insulated due to being super cold.

I remember when I guy in Whitefish MT parked his LPG fueled truck in his garage, and it leaked. when the propane gas reached the pilot light on the water heater, the garage exploded, along with the house. It broke windows several blocks away.
As for Natural Gas, if you had it in a tank, it was CNG. If it wasn't compressed, it would not flow out of the tank. LNG., however, is an entirely different thing. I don't know if Liquified Natural Gas has ever been used as a motor fuel.
I googled it, but the site wouldn't load. Apparently, it has been or can be used as motor fuel.
