Direct tv

I love directv. always helpful in troubleshooting but the more you know the easier to get things done.

The BBC "B Band Converters" are used with non SWM Slimline dishes like the Winegard SK 3005. With the Winegard dome it will not be required. It is used to switch between signals from the 101 satellite and the new HD satelites. The old Winegard dome will not receive those sats so does not require the BBC.

This company Weaknees sells DirecTv equipment. A few years ago I wanted to change to their newest DVR in the motor home because it was smaller and ran cooler. Even after calling them a half a dozen times, they kept sending me older models. I finally bought the one I wanted from the above company and then complained about having to do it that way. They elected to take the price of the unit I bought off of my bill.

Try going to Solid Signal on the internet, they have all the newest equipment.

I was out on the road recently and had a TV problem. Called Direct and they did some trouble shooting over the phone and then said I needed a tech to come out. Said it would be $49 or I could sign up for a monthly fee, which I think is around $7.00 and then their wouldn't be any charge for the service call. Tech came out the next day..............replaced, I think it's called swim unit and power supply and changed some connector ends and got everything up and working. One thing they're not allowed to do, is to go up on the roof. My swim unit was on the roof, so he gave me a new one and I went up and changed it...took about 5 minute, was easy. He would not leave, till he completely checked everything, including a complete shut down and restart.........definitely wanted to make sure there were no problems. I was very satisfied with the service.

Both my DVR receivers are the R16-300. Don't know if they're the latest and/or the greatest, but they work as intended for us....we,too are full timers and have had our account for over 10 years. They seem to monitor our account and advise if there is a better equipment choice for us. They will overnight equipment exchange to wherever you might be. The only hassle we've experienced is with DNS coverage. We usually plan some sort of loose itinerary for the year. If we plan on most of our time on the east coast, we'd prefer the east coast feed and vise versa. However, to change coastal feeds, they wanted us to terminate our existing account and come back as a new customer. That seemed like a big to do over nothing...just flip the damn switch!....that's the main reason we purchased the front DVR because in Florida, all the west coast shows begin at 10PM.....Dennis

A lot of RV dealers sell satellite receivers. North Trail RV does and I'm pretty sure that Camping World does as well. They'll even install it for you.

If you have an online account with Directv, you can even order a new receiver online.

If you are traveling and get anywhere near Houston, call Dave at Sats2Go. He's the RV satellite "guru" We drive from Florida to have him work on our satellite system.
