Flat tow 2016 Equinox

Anybody have experience flat towing a 2016 Chevy Equinox with a Ford Triton V10? Is this vehicle too heavy for a V10? Any problems such as the "death wobble" in later models?

Thanks
  • You don't state which motorhome you have- generally the Equinox with a GVWR of under 5000 pounds should be no problem for a V10. Many newer class Cs, for example, with this engine can tow 7500 lbs. But you need to check your particular motorhome's towing capacity, hitch capacity and gross combined weight rating (GCWR) to know for sure.
  • Forgot the details -- I have a 2012 Fleetwood Bounder 33C. Presently towing a KIA Soul without any problems. Just looking for a newer toad.
  • Trying to purchase a chevy equinox and having trouble with Blue OX base plate. They can only install as long as the active Aero vent shutters are only upper and not lower. Did you have a base plate installed on your car yet and which brand.
  • We towed trailers that are 2x as long and over twice the weight with an old 2V V10 Class A no problem. A 4-6% grade at low altitude with a 6klb high profile trailer is about a 45mph tops ride up the hill. No problem maintaining highway speeds of 70-75 on the flats.
It’ll tow a little car like it’s not even back there.
  • We tow a 2020 Equinox Premier 2.0 Turbo AWD behind our Journey. Have not had any death wobble in 10K miles. Blue Ox Baseplate , towbar and Air Force One braking system.
