Fleetwood Daul Pane Windows, Good or Bad

I am looking at newer Fleetwood motorhomes, 2005 to 2008, some have single pane and some have dual pane, I like the Bounder 32ft models but all Bounders have dual pane windows, also heard some night mares about dual pane on some bounders around 05-06 models, would like to hear from anyone with these windows, are they worth the headache.

  • timmac,
Well, I wouldn't worry too much about the fogging issue. It is not limited to any particular make or model of motor home. I've seen Country Coaches, Newmars, Fleetwoods, and more have some and even our present rig, an '04 Itasca Horizon with the 330 CAT has a tad bit of it in the door glass. The tiny, rear window on the drivers side bed room looks really bad. But, it's only about a 10" wide by, 8" tall window and it's certainly not worth the removal, repair and replacement of it.

Our previous coach, a '99 Fleetwood Bounder had both the passenger and drivers side, stationary and sliders fog up. Atwood was going to send new replacements but screwed up the order so bad I canceled and had a local glass company build "Laminated" glass panels for those four windows. It worked flawless, and is still working flawless today, and that was over 5 years ago. WE never had ANY of the condensation issues, noise issues, heat or too cold issues, they performed outstanding.

Anyway, fogged windows are repairable without too much issue. Someday I'll get our door glass done. It the Bounder, which incidentally is an outstanding rig, is what you like, the floor plan, layout, engine, chassis and all, are all up to par with you, then certainly don't let something like the "fogging windows" keep you away.

There are a couple of companies that handle the repairs very nicely. They come to your camp, remove them, repair them and are back within a day or two at the most. Good luck.

  • All the dual pane SEGI windows on my 05 Fleetwood Excursion were fogged when I bought it in Dec. 09. I have had them cleaned and resealed at Suncoast Designers and so far so good.
  • We have dual pane windows and would not want single pane. As much condensation as is on the windshield when it's cold, I can't imagine having to deal with all that water on all of the windows. They do add a lot of sound proofing which we really appreciate also.
  • I think you are finding the single pane windows on the lower cost MHs. They do cost more initially. SEGI was the company that made the most troublesome windows. Once you have the dual pane you will not want to go back. The soundproofing and temperature insulation make it worth a potential problem. Mine are 11 years old this year and never a problem but they are not SEGI.
