Flying Jays going Down Hill since Pilot took over

While I have not noticed an overall change in quality, I will say that I've been in a couple of Flying J's where the RV lanes were pretty poorly laid out. I haven't been to one with my new coach yet, so I still can't judge on a Class A/toad basis, but I did run into some tightness issues with the pickup/5er.

I think that they would be better off eliminating all parking adjacent to the RV lanes.

I find that as long as I go nice and slow and pay attention to the car-driving lunatics, that I can generally maneuver through most any station.

The OP used a poor example for what he tried to say. However, he is right on the quality of the FJ going down - at least on those we used. Our local FJ on I-85 north of Atlanta used to have a decent restaurant - gone. RV pumps worked well and the readers always worked - not now. Water and air - gone. It has become more of a big gas station with diesel pumps. The truckers store has gotten smaller with less variety and the help very poor. Even the steam table junk food is bad.
It appears that Pilot is treating them like ugly step-children, wishing they would just go away. Even the volume of truckers stopping there has dropped to less than half of what it was a few years ago. Sad because I was a flag waver for them and always stopped at several between Atlanta and Wyoming every year.

I used to use Flying J's exclusively when traveling. In fact, we used to plan our re-fueling stops in line with Flying J locations. However, I've found that over that past couple of years they've gone downhill. At least, the locations that we frequented mostly in New York, and Ohio.

Our nearby Flying J in Pembroke, NY hasn't had the RV pumps working for quite sometime now. I don't know if they've "fixed" them as of yet, but the last couple of times we pulled in, they were still all inoperative (All of the RV pumps - both gas & diesel).

We've also noticed the increased fuel pricing. We've found that we're able to get diesel much cheaper in some of the service plaza's on the New York Thruway than at our local Flying J. It used to be the opposite.

We've been using Flying J's - especially in Pembroke NY, Austinburg, OH and just outside of Toledo, OH - for about 9 years now. We've definitely noticed an overall difference since the merger. Trying to be a loyal customer, but it's getting more difficult.

and many to most Murphy's are situated making it very difficult to exit the pump area in anything larger than a 10-spd bike. I exaggerate to make the point. our Class A + toad approaches 50' long but have had no problems negotiating the Flying J RV lanes. about the only problems we have had in the RV lanes are thoughtless drivers not pulling out after fueling. one rocket scientist fueled and then went inside to pay. he must've used pennies as he was inside for well over 20-minutes. we pulled into the next lane as he was walking inside, pumped around 50-gallons and had just started the engine to leave when he came strolling back out. and yes, he was driving an RV.

We used Flying J's exclusively on our recent 2100 mile trip. Great service and we love the RV island!

I never use the RV lanes , as the truck lanes have better access , larger flow , and DEF at the pump .

I am not loyal to a brand , but loyal to the best stops . I keep a list of the best fuel prices , parking , and restaurants .
All Brands have good and bad .

I had hoped that the Pilot stores would come up to the level of cleanliness and general service that the J's had when they merged. It is evident from out last three trips to the west coast from Mo that they have done just the opposite. I avoided several chains because of the dirty conditions around their pumps and the inoperative or non-existant features at the pumps. having to remove my shoes after using the pumps at a truck stop isn't considered normal as far as I am concerned.

Even with all the problems I will still keep using them

Sometimes you have to come against the traffic on the rv lanes if you are getting propane. Like on my coach the propane tank is on the driver side and the propane hose dose not reach, so you got to turn it around.

As far as to going down hill since the merger, I have notice any difference.
