Fuse or circuit braker for inside coach gen. start switches

To All, I'll check for the connector that 2-3 feet from the gen. set.
I didn't notice this when I unplugged the plug that is on the generator. I am getting close.

As Doug said, check the quick connect at the generator for corroded or broken pins, and also for a pin that has pushed back in the socket on either side. A couple of years ago, the remote splice that Doug mentioned caused our remote gen start problem when a corroded butt connector let go. It was about a foot from the plug inside a plastic wire wrap. I fixed a similar butt connector problem for a neighbor just a month or so ago, except that both his stop and start positions quit working except at the generator. In both cases, I used soldered and shrink wrapped connections as a more permanent fix.

Replace the quick connect. Look inside both plugs and you will see corroded or broken pins. Long shot would be where they spliced the 2 remote switch harness's to that remote harness from the Genset. usually that connection is within 2 or 3 feet of the quick connect. Doug

Doug, The coach switches will stop the gen. but the lights inside the switch do not light up when trying to start the gen. I did discover the coach switches will start the gen from inside the coach if I hold them to start for about 10 seconds. This started to happen after I unplugged and reconnected the quick disconnect at the gen.

At least I can start the from inside the coach now.

The Genset 12 volt fuse (at the Genset and is an Onan fuse) is the only fuse for the remote switches. If BOTH quit, go to the remote wire quick connect at the Genset and check for corroded pins or a bad connection. Also, Start the Genset and then see if the Remote switches either light up or will STOP the Genset. If so, the quick connect at the Genset is the problem. Also, it is a GROUND connection that starts and stops the Genset, so the fuse will not usually cause the Genset to not start. Doug

Would this be the wires coming from the c/b that is on the Gen? That would make sense if that c/b supplied power or protection for the two house switches. It is easy to get to so I'll check it first thing.

I'd check the connector that carries the wires to the inside switch. I'm pretty sure all the power for the inside switches comes from the generator itself. The inside start switch should be in parallel with the one on the generator.
