Gen set oil change

Sorry if this question has been asked already, I tried the search but didn't come up with anything.

We have a 02 Damon Intruder with a 5500 genset. Getting the cover off is bad enough, but the oil fill/check stick is above the opening of the genset bay door. We've not changed the oil our selves since we bought it a year ago as it was done at the dealer before we bought it. It's time for the change though.

So, has anyone ever used a hand pump to add oil to the generator? If so what type of pump?

Thank you.

Long flexible funnel? So you know the first quart goes right in, the second one is a dribble then let it settle in, repeat, repeat, till you wonder if it is really worth it.

You can get this at Auto zone or any large Auto parts store. I use it all the time at work. The PUMP, not the oil. Doug

Don't have your model but they are all about the same.

Not sure I explained my self very clear, sorry. I "know" how to change oil, I had a class C that I did all the time only a Onan 5000.

On my class A, the genset is located in a bay with a small bay door that makes getting the cover off the genset hard but the oil fill hole is ABOVE the opening of the bay door.
