I think you mean a Gen-turi Generator Exhaust System - Camco RV 44461. We call them up-pipes in the Northeast.
Any body ever use camco generator exhaust extend pipe does it work is it safe.
I have been using one for many, many years. In the Northeast they are required at most club dry camping rallies. Scusset Beach State Reservation requires one to be used regardless of who's rally it is, if it is being held in the safari field.
Now with that being said, I attended a FMCA rally a couple years ago in Perry, GA and discovered they were not mandatory. The rationale was that generator manufactures would not warranty their generators if a up-pipe was used. I spoke with one of the major generator representives who said that was the case. They said that the gen-tori had no back pressure, but could not tell people to use one type over another. Some people use homemade up-pipes using gutter downspouts or pvc as up-pipes with lots of back-pressure.
I would rather use one than have someone hurt due to carbon monoxide poisoning. I have used one since 2002 on two motorhomes with no problems. The Gen-turi has no backpressure.
Paul - gboppExplorerThere are a few plans available for a DIY Generator Exhaust. This is just one.

You may be able to loosen and reposition your existing exhaust pipe to better accomodate the Gen-Turi.
Either way I wouldn't be scared by adding a couple feet of additional pipe as long as it was at least the same size or bigger than the existing pipe. - Dutch_12078Explorer II

Yep, if you can't reposition the stock pipe, install the appropriate Camco adapter on your existing pipe, and then buy the size extension needed sized to fit the Gen-turi elbow. You'll need to drill a matching hole in the extension for the spring pin, but that's simple enough. Just make sure you adequately support the riser pipe, so minimal weight is put on the stock exhaust pipe when the unit is in use. - JimExplorerTwo years ago 5 people died while sleeping in a RV that wasn't using a Gen-turi type device. So, the importance of using them outweighs the darn warranty by the genset manufacturer, IMO. Even a home made device, like mine, is preferable to not having one at all.
