Good Idea or Bad Idea

I stand corrected. My apologies. It is for the long term renters .

I have no problem with age or appearance restrictions as long as they are disclosed upfront. Just this month we pulled into a RV park that we had made reservations for last December and was told that we could not stay because of the age even though it was not in there rules or on the reservation. Long story short we stayed but was not easy.

We avoid the ones that look like zoos as well. We look at reviews of them as well as photos (to include aerial maps) to get a sense. When making a reservation online, if there is only one or two type of sites left and other types are not available, then that's usually a positive sign.

I can say this about The Wilmington KOA, it's a nice park and they are steadily improving things. I noticed this last time that there were a few sites that had paved patios, landscaping, lamp post, raised fire pit on the patio, patio furniture and a gas grill. I didn't notice those last year. Maybe they were there, I'm not sure. But I will try to book one the next time if available.

If you have ever stayed at a campground where old dilapidated trailers and RV's have sat for months owned by families with wild and unwashed kids of itinerant workers, their wandering dogs, and abandoned "yard" cars up on blocks, you'll understand why some RV parks managers are concerned about this.

The sad thing is that people come on here and post false or misleading information.

I can tell you what's NOT false, there are other places to camp than KOA, many of them as nice or better,anyplace that has the same restrictions, will also NOT be getting my money.

Strange that a person would only want to stay in a park that allows the seasonal sites to be anything goes, but I guess there are different strokes for different folks. As was previously posted, this rule only applies to people wanting to stay a month or more. If you read the bad reviews on RVparkreviews.com you will see that a large number of them cite the fact that the long term and seasonal sites look like refugee camps. But you go on thinking you are somehow being noble by saying you will boycott any business that tries to keep high standards. Just don't be two faced and then complain if you stay in some park where the rigs look like props for the remake of the Grapes of Wrath.

Hello people...as I stated it's not a rule for staying overnight. Only if you are going to be doing an extended stay (over a month). This is a very nice and well kept RV Park. The staff are very courteous and friendly and they stay on top of certain things like those speeding around in the park. Saw it with my own eyes this past saturday night. You can go online and make a reservation and there is no asking to see a photo of your camper. However, if you want to stay for a month or two and get their special rate, then yes. I would imagine this is to keep the rif raf from moving in and setting up a homestead.

At least you haven't had the CG owner demand your rig's VIN yet of both the chassis and the upfitted part.
