Well, We were supposed to go camping today thru Sunday. We had everything packed and almost complete Thursday!Well, I was carrying some paper towels to put inside a cabinet and dropped one roll outside. As I went back out of the mh I decided to open a cargo door for the aquahot to remember to check the expansion tank. I went and picked up the roll of paper towels and proceeded back to the center entrance door and walked into the front edge of door I had opened prior, hit with top of forehead and above right eye. I was knocked unconscious and was in the sand and gravel driveway on my back when I woke up...checked head and was bleeding some, sat up and slowly got up to go inside the house to check injuries. Couldn't see out of right eye and was quite dizzy at this point.Well, rt eye swollen shut and black and blue, big gash on forehead, seem ok otherwise, just a few aches and pains from falling I guess!Canceled trip to State Park as decided not to drive with one eye! Plenty of other times to go......

Put a patch over your eye and go as a pirate!

Plenty of other times to go......Sorry for your injure and hope for a swift recovery. I have noticed as I enter the autumn of life (now 67) that I make more and more mistakes such as you did. My wife is starting to use the D word (downsizing) but I tell her I plan to drive this puppy a lot longer. Just hope I don't have to eat those words.Bob

Well, I am sorry for your injury, but glad it was not any worse.Well, as I was reading I thought you were going to say you fell on the MH steps and broke a leg, hip, or some other potentially debilitating injury.Well, all in all, I guess you are lucky it was not much worse, but very unlucky it happened at all.Well, if you were unconscious, you should be checked medically as that is a sign of a serious head injury.

Ouch! Hope it gets better soon.

I woke up on my bed a week ago last Thursday with no memory of how I got there. Later investigation indicated that I either slipped or tripped on the deck and hit head on the way down. Abrasion on forehead, later a black eye, glasses bent. Lost about 20 minutes. Went to ER, examined, scan was clear. I still have mild headache on and off. Symptoms can last a couple of weeks.

As everyone else said: GET CHECKED. A concussion is by definition a traumatic brain injury and not to be ignored.

Hijacking this - sorry. Please have your nephew evaluated by a neurologist. Brain trauma can disrupt your life, but a good traumatic brain injury treatment program can evaluate and treat TBIs, preferably early, but at any time after the injury. Compensatory strategies can be learned that help compensate for deficits.

Hadn't hit basement door that hard yet but I was admiring a new Prevost and turned around and smacked the slide out with forehead plenty hard.
Laid there a bit and got up and put ice in a towel, on it. Took a few minutes to polish the corner later.
Let the wife drive.
Got the noodles to put on slide edges but too lazy to do it.
Those basement doors need to be like some of the Prevost and Newell etc. Open out just a bit and then slide up flat against the upper coach.
No bending over, maybe, and can reach down onto the tray without wrecking back.
Oftern wonder if somecone could do a conversion to those type doors.

SEE A DOCTOR NOW. Yes I'm shouting! You need to be evaluated for brain trauma anytime you have a head injury with a loss of consciousness. Six months ago, my uncle (73YO) tripped and bumped his head. He was woozy for a few hours, but felt better later. The next morning he had a bad headache. Bottom line, he went to the ER, and was put in surgery and intensive care with a bleed in the brain.

Concussion are very serious and how you respond in the first week will make a big difference in your recovery. I have a nephew who got a concussion. Being a tough young kid, it took him some time to get to a doctor. Even though he was put on bed rest in a dark room, he still is under very marginal recovery. Had to drop out of school for a year, because he couldn't think straight. While he continues to get better, he still forgets stuff much worse than normal.

Another emphasis on being checked out by a doc. Your black eye should go over big in the ER.

I just hate when Karma plots against us. :(

You are probably going to be just fine but it would be worth it to discuss it with your doctor.

Some friends of mine in Alabama have a friend whose husband was out jogging on a wooded trail. The guy in front of him pulled back a low branch and let go too soon and it hit the ladies husband in the head. He was dizzy but it didn't knock him out. He complained of headaches and had trouble balancing.

Off to the doctor they went (a few days later) and he had a hematoma. He had to have 5 brain surgeries and was never quite the same again.

Never hurts to get something checked out.

Absolutely agree that you need to go see the doctor. Head injuries are nothing to take lightly. Don't be a hero!
