I'm taking my wife for our first trip in the RV by ourselves. We're going to visit the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. We are planning to stay at the Bear Creek RV Park unless someone has strong suggestions otherwise. The plan is to arrive at the RV park Friday afternoon, visit Biltmore on Saturday, and drive back home Sunday.I'm trying to decide if we should take a car with us or not. I have a open car trailer that typically tows a race car behind the RV. I can tow a street car, but we'll have to deal with having the trailer too. The other thought I had was to make use of the RV parking at the Biltmore. Does anyone have experience with this, and have opinion one way or another?Another benefit to having a car would be seeing other areas of Asheville. I'm not familiar with the area, so I'm not sure if we're even close enough to the city area to be worth the drive.Wish me luck!

Be prepared for possible sub-freezing temps. Heaters or lights in underside cabinets and heat inside the coach. On Wednesday, Blowing Rock was 21! Should warm up some by Friday...

Aaron, you are going to be blown away by the Biltmore Estate. There are so many tours to pick from and you can't do them all in one day. One of my favorite tours is the 'behind the scenes tour' where they take you into the 3 levels of basements showing you the inner workings of the house systems (from 1895). You probably will have just enough time for the regular house tour that offers audio. You will definitely want to return to see the other tours in the future. Also, if it's your first visit, starting with the regular house tour is the way to go to see the basic setting and architecture.We were just there this summer and I would not want to take the motorhome to the Biltmore. They have low tree branches as it's a very wooded area. They also had a bridge go out so the passing was very narrow but it's probably fixed by now. I would take a car as downtown Asheville is neat to see (very Bohemian).Have fun,MM.

Bear Creek is a good campground not very far from Biltmore. Mostly back-in spots. Beautiful couintry!

You could also try Camp Fire Lodging has great views (Premium spot) if you can get one. I stayed there last year and a rental car company delivered and picked up.

I don't know your time of travel ,but you might like the KOA east (near Black Mountain) better if you want more privacy and the river and lake are absolutely beautiful. I've stayed at both ( my son lives in Asheville)and I much more like the KOA. The Bear Creek hasn't a creek and the sites are very close and tight.

Been there and I also stayed at Bear Creek RV park. If I was you I definitely would take a toad. You are still a few miles away from the Biltmore. And if you are going to see other parts of the city you will need the toad. Now as to hauling the toad on a trailer it might create a space problem. You might want to call Bear Creek to see if they can accommodate the trailer.

I'm not too worried about the cold. I topped off the propane yesterday, and it looks like it will be a little warmer over the next couple nights.

Now, we just have to worry about rain keeping us inside the whole time.

Here in Marion, nc 30 miles from Asheville. Here since Tues leaving sun am. Its been down near 26 at night. Rises to46to 50 during the day. Just run gas furnace at night and no freezing in my winnabago 38R.suppose to get warmer closer to weekend. Maybe bring a small heater, or drop light for water storage area and disconnect hose at night. Enjoy !

I'd recommend the car also. You'll be close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, hit that while you're there if you've never been and I wouldn't want to take the MH on it. lol

There's a huge parking lot there and big tour buses regularly access the place-----------so driving your MH there is an option if you don't have a toad.

X2 on the car. You'll want to visit the city and other sights while you are in the area. Bear Creek Campground was fine. We visited Asheville and the Biltmore this past spring and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good luck.

Have fun. great city to visit. the Biltmore winery is a great tour with wine tastings.....great wine.
You will want a car to get around, good roads + easy from Bear creek.
