Headlight and Foglight Problem

Jim, in my 05 Diplomat and most other Monacos that I know about, the low beams (single filament bulbs) came on when the headlights were on (outer bulb position) and they went out when the high beans were on and the inner bulb position illuminated, again single filament. Many of us rewired the lights so that all four came on when the high beams were used.

You may want to check and see if someone reworked the low beams and added a different socket (dual filament), using the high beam wiring to fire the dual filament. It doesn't make electrical sense to do it that way, but who knows.

Soooo....either they were wired different in 2003 or someone did some rewiring.

Still have a Question. I thank all above, they were correct, turn on the key, fog lights and brights work, BUT. In going through the steps I noticed that I have four big lamps in the front. The outside lamps are both low beams and high beams. The two inside lamps do not come on. They do have bulbs in them. Trying to figure out if they work at all or if they have a use. Any thoughts are appreciated .

On my Monaco the key must be on for the fog lights to work. The headlights do not have to be on for the fog lights to work. The headlights will work with the key off.
Turning the low bean headlights on will keep the fog lights on. Switching to high beam and the low beam headlights will go out as will the fog lights. Only the high beam bulbs will remain lit.

I don't have a Holiday Rambler. On my 2003 Allegro Bus, however, with the ignition switch off, the low beam headlights work just fine, but the high beams don't work. For whatever reason the ignition switch must be on for the high beams to work. Been this way since the coach was brand new.

Been there done this spend 10 bucks and try this, run a decent Gage wire like 10 from the neg. Side of the engine battery to all of the metal light frames on the coach front okay to split off from the 10 Gage to the frames as you get close. Be dawn sure your on the negative side of the battery. If all works you have a ground problem. If I'm right I can give you a $2 fix from there and tell you why if I'm wrong next time I'm through I will buy the beer j

Don't know about the high beams but the fog lights will only come on with the low beams ON, The reason is when you need fog lights you also need tail lights, hence the low beams need to be ON. Turn the fog light switch OFF and then try the high beams and see if they come ON. If they do there could be a interlock between the fog and high beams. Give it a try and let us know `

Don't have detailed knowledge of your coach but the head lights (both high and low) along with the fog lights are going to be controlled by a relay. The dash switches control the relay. The low beam relay is usually an identical relay so you can swap to verify. Also considering the fog lights are usually interlocked to shut off when you activate the high beams it's a very good chance the high beam relay has failed.
