Help, need info on awning top mount pivot

Came home the other day and wife messed with awning and broke top rail mount on dometic ae awning.
Got new mount today but dont know how to secure pivot bolt to awning rail. Seems like special rivet tool needed to spread flange on bolt to secure.
I have a standard rivet gun but am stumped.
Anyone know the trick?
Thanks,
Ted
  • Take the pin to Lowe's or Home Despot and purchase a bolt and a self locking nut of the same diameter or slightly smaller diameter and longer, I see on the first picture that the part broke off, for ease of manufacturing and saving costs they use long rivets.

There are always simple solutions to complicated problems, any rivet that acts as a hinge can be replaced by a bolt and nut.

I think it's a single piece (as opposed to a pin & rivet) with a spreading type end. Might be able to find a similar pin at a good hardware store, but I'd likely just use a nice stainless bolt and locknut, or a correctly sized roll pin that would fit into the hole tightly.

Looks to me that a rivet goes in the end of the pin,

mine are either too big or too small.

pardon the links, but photos must have been too big to load.
