As suggested .....
Check Valve in Hot outlet on WH Tank (Top Fitting) is clogged/failed
No mixing valve or you would get cold water flow when hot clogged
I would get the flow to the trickle then nothing. It WAS the mixing valve. Enough water would trickle through to pressure up when the faucet handle was turned off. Then when turned of it would run a stream down to nothing. Mixing valve was stopped up. I did all the repiping myself, removing the valve. Haven't had one iota of a problem since.
That's unusual.....
HOT is side that normally clogs up from scale/calcium in WH Tank
and the COLD will continue to flow thru mixing valve
Now that you have removed the mixing valve did you change out the 'T-stat' to Atwood standard one?
XT Model uses a 160*F t-stat---mixing valve controls hot out to 130*F
W/O Mixing valve you Hot water that can SCALD instantaneously
Standard Atwood t-stat (140*F) can replace the XT t-stat...same size/installation just need to change out Pin connector for a small spade connector on Brown Wire.
