HWH Slideout Damage on 2006 Winnebago Vectra

My 12 foot slideout was stuck in the out position. A mobile RV technician came to the house and he was able to get it in after three hours and some cutting and prying on the bent mechanism. He says there is major structural damage.

Any suggestions for repair in the Salem OR area. I’m not a fan of Camping World. I’ll probably try to use Winnebago Factory Service in Junction City (75 miles away) or possibly Guaranty RV in Junction City. Any suggestions?
  • Definitely not CW or Guaranty IMHO. Since Winnie is only 75 miles take the rig there and talk to them.

Junction City Winnie may/may not have the skills for your model/year. I know that they have gone through changes from their original manufacturing intent after purchase of the CC site. And stop at Premier RV next door and see if they can offer any advice as they all worked in the local RV industries.

The only place I ever get tires is Les Schwaub tires in Junction City. And not because the typical tire store has any real clue about RV tires. However the guys there cut their teeth on RV tires due to all of the RM manufacturing in that area and they know and understand RV tires.
  • I'd get a detailed understanding of the damage and repairs. If it involves something like slide removal it will be big $$$.

Another shop you could check is the small Elite Repair in Harrisburg. While experienced their shop started before Winnie and I don't know if they do that type of repair. But you'll be in the area.
  • Thanks for the replies. The damaged occurred because I had the bays full of about 200 pounds of golf clubs and equipment. When retracting the slide it hung up on the ledge of the tile floor. I should have stopped immediately, but I put the power to it and bent the frame. No where in my manuals does it say to worry about loaded weight when retracting. Maybe that is why most of the newer slide outs don’t have the bays attached.
  • Take it to the Winnebago service center.
Had a neighbor with an incorrectly installed slide that hung up on floor. Factory covered nearly all the costs to repair at their facility!
  • I just called Winnebago In Junction City and they said they’re closing the facility and can’t make any new service appointments. I’m awaiting calll backs from Premier in JC and Elite in Harrisburg.

Well that didn't last very long...
