Hwy 84 in NM

Hwy 84 runs between Pagosa Springs, CO and Santa Fe. It's a fine road, very beautiful, but not, to my knowledge, accessible from I-25. You'd definitely have to watch the weather, since you'd have to traverse Wolf Creek Pass on US 160 to get to US 84.

Far to pretty for most RVer's, Interstate people wouldn't understand it.

maybe so, but it also runs between I-25 south to I-40 at Vegas Junction east of Albuqerque.

Not a winter trip for sure. Great drive on the summer.

Thank you Bob and Shaz that's what I need to know. I'll stay on the main Hwy.

It is a pretty good road. I have probably driven it hundreds of times, and many in 35 to 39 foot motor homes and will do again soon, On edit nothing wrong with it in the winter either. Just check before you turn off. If I-40 or I-25 is clear so is 84 between them. .

Lets see:

US 84 - 42 miles from Exit 339 on I-25 to Exit 256 on I-40

I-25 to Albq then I-40 - 211 miles from Exit 339 on I-25 to Exit 256 on I-40

The road would have to be pretty bad for me to not take the shortcut and save at least 2 hours drive time and 16-18 gallons of fuel.

It looked good to me last August.

I live in Stanley NM. Very close to this shortcut I would not take this in the winter
I would go further south on I25 and pick up us 285 to Clines Corners on I40 longer than us84 but shorter than I 25 to I40 and much better roads. The winter time issue is blowing snow not much to stop it and when it does drift it really drifts. 1/2 " of snow can make big drifts and completely close the roads but you can still see the grass because of the wind blowing the snow
