I'm taking the water pump out.

Tightened up a drippy valve, it's fixed. But there is a leak under the pump. The fittings are dry. I can't feel anything on the body of the pump all the way around. The pump is against the bay floor. I think those fittings should come off (easily?). I'll get another filter. The tanks full. Been wanting to test the black and gray.

10 min all faucets on and two bowl flushes, and the potable is about 1/3 full. It's a pain holding that pedal down for 4 minutes.

I hope it's not a cracked housing.

  • And I'm going to add a valve between the tank and filter. That way I'll have a way to cutoff the water next time.

    Any valve and fitting ideas?

    Thanks
  • Plastic ball valve. Pump and tank fittings are 1/2 pipe thread.
Make sure you leave flexible pipe to help vibration noise from pump.
I used stainless flexible pipe normally used for connecting faucets under sinks.
  • Remove the two phillips screws holding the pump to the wall. You should now be able to pull it out enough to feel or look for the leak.
  • Can't really tell, but the is slightly elevated. Need to extend the waterline out of the bay to better see where the leak is coming from.

  • While you have it out, I would suggest positioning it better to have better access to filter and pump end of assembly.
  • There should be no water in pressure switch area. A diagram in pump body moves a small metallic plunger. Yes, diaphragm could be perforated.
