Itasca 30T A/C Thermostat

I have a single A/C unit. The installed thermostat (RVComfort.hc Coleman Mach) has a full degree swing. Set at 80 it activates the compressor at 81 and shuts off at 79. Always get too cold or too hot before it cycles. Has anyone found a 1/2 degree swing thermostat that can replace it?

Doug, had 6 motor homes before this one. None had the A/C cycle swing this one does. Sensor accuracy is simply a function of the quality of the components. Winnebago did not spend any extra on components. What I call contractor grade.
What were the brands of the thermostats/HVAC systems in your previous 6 RVs?

I have a hard time believing any RV HVAC system can maintain room temps in an RV closer than the 2 degree spread you are seeing; it would have to be constantly cycling, every 5 minutes or so, and even then...

Cycle can be influenced by thermostat location, but other devices I have show comparable swings. Looks like I will have to visit Home Depot.

One degree means that the temp swing is TWO degrees. Set at 80 the A/C shuts off at 81, then stays off until temp drops to 79 before turning back on. My wife has severe neuropathy. She has a one degree tolerance before adjusting layers she wears. It's not difficult to distinctly feel the extremes in our 30T.

If the accuracy is 3 to 5 degrees we could be experiencing 6 to 10 degree swings. Recognizable by anyone.

I am sorry your wife has a health issue. But, the system is performing better than it is designed too. I do not think you can find a better system or fix for your problem. The 3 to 5 is the specs. But NOT hard specs. If you would complain about a swing that is what both Dometic and RVP would tell you. I think you reversed your problem on this post. Doug

You have to be kidding. You are concerned about 1/2 degree???? The specs call for a 3 to 5 degree error. You CANNOT be getting too cold between 79 and 81 degree shut down. There is no way you can feel a 3 degree difference. BTW, a Residential tstat will not be any better. Doug

If you can replace it with a residential stat, an Energy Star rated stat will keep it dead on.
The heat side will be more accurate as well.
