Lock For Screen Door

Need some advice on how to lock the screen door from the inside.
Thanks for all comments!
  • I'm not sure how much security one can get from a locked screen door, but if the reason is merely to avoid surprise visits and invasion of privacy from friends and relatives, perhaps merely posting a sign requesting folks knock first will do the trick.

Maybe "Knock lest you catch us nekkid" or "Knock to avoid being shot." It might require a serious bawling out for the edjamacation of those clueless jerks who'd just up and poke their head in anyway.
  • If you feel unsafe where you are. Move to a different location.
Or keep door shut and locked. And open windows and roof vents.

I haven't ever seen a lock on any RV screen door. If you did have one.
Nothing will keep anyone from just coming in through the screen
  • This was what I did....not for our security, but to keep the dog from pushing open the screen door with her nose.

  • Yep... a small barrel bolt or an old screen-door latch and eye hook maybe? As said, you're not going to get any security from it, but you can keep the dog from pushing it open.

  • Last camping trip our 3 yr granddaughter ran down the hall and hit the
screen door, she kept going and thankfully cleared the step and missed hitting a log before she hit the dirt. She wasn't hurt , didn't even cry but it could
have been a lot worse. I like the mini deadbolt idea.

we have a handrail ..both on the inside and the outside the door.
Our screen door has a sliding cover that covers the screen door handle. (Just like the one pictured )

It would be very easy to put a cord around the outside handrail ... bring it through where the handle is ...and attach it to the handrail on the inside. Then just close the cover.
  • I hang my hat on the knob, everyone knows not to come in...:B.....Dennis
