MH purchase

I have been looking at entregas and newmar coaches and it finally hit me that a 45 ft coach would really be nice IF I were to just travel and not camp any more at my favorite camp grounds. they just do not have slabs big enough to park something that big, or dry camp in the mountains either. I would be afraid to take it hunting for fear someone would shoot a hole in the side of it. never happened before but you know what they say about always a first time. going to the Oregon coast would mean no more camping in a state park and only resorts would be the norm. I like comfort but I think I had better down size my mind and start all over looking.
  • Been fulltiming for 11 years, private CGs, COE CGs, National Forest Service CGs, State Parks, Fairground CGs, National Parks and city CGs, Seldom call for a reservation way ahead, don't stay in parking lots and have boondocked very few times, our 40' length has only came up a few times. Usually you are told "no problem we have them all the time" if calling day of arrival, but some have no concept where a 40' RV towing a SUV can fit. I use the net, POI Factory imported into Delorme Street Atlas, and Passport America to find our stopping locations.
  • No need to stop looking at those 2 brands either. Newmar makes the as short as 34'10", Entegra starts at 40'6".

Having said that, like the others we've never run into any issues with length. I've also found every time we go longer it's easier to drive than the one before it.
  • Haven't found MH size to be a significant issue in CG's either...
  • Not all true many of the Oregon state parks can accommodate a 45ft motor home - for instance Beverly Beach has over sites
Fort Stevens has over 100 sites

Granted you limit your choices with a big rig but it is doable

I have spent two winters recently camping on the Oregon coast so I am very familiar with the state parks
