Do you have a budget in mind? Gas, Diesel, There is a big difference in a $75k gasser and a $900k really big "thingy". Help us narrow it down...

I have always thought the motor home you describe is made by Newmar.I went through several coaches and two other brands before I actually bought one, the one I have now. I still believe that more than ever before.

Recently downsized but had a 2001 Newmar Kountry Star DP for 15 years.

Bought it new in 2001. Had two issues within the first six months. both times it needed towed, both times it was fixed in one day. Didn't have any other major issues until last year when the frig went out. One of the fixes even surprised Freightliner who said the ignition switch never goes out (well almost never ;))

Hope the Class C we just downsized too is near as good long-term.

No matter what you do, new coaches have issues...but your best odds are with a coach that fits your needs, floor plan and equipment/layout you like....My short list is Entegra and Newmar, known for their customer service and Entegra has a 2 yr warranty..While I do like the new Winne Grand Tour 45L....I don't know about their customer service but it sure is worth a look...You can also browse freely at a dealer where you can see many coaches open (ie Lazy Days) then zero in from that point on...You have a wide selection and can be picky...

Add me to the happy with Newmar list. We've owned 3 of them, if we ever decide to buy another it will be another Newmar.

As far as easy to steer, take a look at Newmars Comfort Drive. IMO there is nothing easier to drive. We've owned it since our '08 came home, I don't think I'd even consider a MH without it.

We need to stay around less than 500k.
2 full slides awnings, big tv inside.
Don't know we need or want full electric, if going propane would save thousands.
Markups are ridiculous these days so we hope we can get 500k sticker less than 300-320k. Think we really want trailing axle to help with steering stability.
The Newmar/Freightliner steering system, don't remember the name sounds good.
That tailing axle adds cost though. Forty feet is plenty.

If you can't accept your new unit will spend some time at least initially at the dealer getting the kinks worked out, perhaps you might consider a gently used quality built unit where the original owner got the kinks worked out for you.

Don't under estimate a tag axle. Yes, you will have to buy 2 new extra tires every 7 yrs. But, look at the benefits...

-Gives stability in the coach---drives straighter
-Smoother over speed bumps
-Allows for huge Cargo Carrying Capacity
-Gives an extra set tires for rotation

If you ever get a bad front alignment (happened to us).... I didn't catch it for 2,000 miles. I had good wear on the inner edges of both front tires. So, I had the almost new looking tag axle tires transferred to the front and the fronts on the tag. That worked great and saved a lot of money until it was time to change-out all the tires due to age.

Also, a 42ft. w/tag will have the same storage as a 40 ft. without tag (obvious because the tag takes up space). A 43-45 footer will give you more under-bay storage.
