Michelin Tires

We are looking for Michelin XRV 255/80R22.5 tires for our motor home. The dealers are saying Michelin has a 2 year back log and he can't find any. Has anyone heard about this?

  • Don't overlook other brands....Michelin is not the only one out there. Check Hankook, Toyo, and others. The only one I would not recommend is the Goodyear G670 series.

  • My XRVs were made 0904. That translates to 9th week of 2004. Approx. 11 1/2 years ago. Sure they are beyond even Michelin's conservative life recommendation, and I am in process of getting 6 new XRV to replace them. My point :
    - Extremely fine cracking near the beads.
    - All 6 have very even tread wear.
I will stay with my Michelins, as I have for about 50 years now, thank you ! ! !
  • I switched to XZEs. Higher weight rating, stiffer sidewall. Used on most Prevost Chassis. Same price as XRVs.
  • I have Michelins on my motorhome (235/85R16E) and would prefer to have Toyo on my RV if it was 19.5 or 22.5" rims. ..

Check the date code on your tires before having them installed. You do not want to buy 3 year old 'new' tires and require replacing them in 2018!

You will get a lot more service out of some tires with 2014 or 2015 date codes. Let the tire shop know that you will be checking the date codes.
