friends 98 monaco diesel pusher has major problems. headlights dim no taillights turn signals. batteries new and alternator but he says it is only showing 5 volts on dash gauge. when he shuts it off it continues to run until he un hooks batteries. batteries never go dead and i have not seen unit in person yet. thinking maybe bad mechanic or bad ground or worse. any help would be a godsend. thank you

The problem could lie on the rear run plate, that is where a lot of the 12 volt electrical is on the coach. It's accessed by lifting the engine cover below the bed. Look for loose connections or other signs of trouble here first.
That or a bad ground connection from the main electrical panel.
