Need help with power converter

I'm glad you found the temp solution. I'm having my inverter dropped off at the "authorized" service center tomorrow for repair.

I learned a couple of things today in talking to both Magnum Energy and ASE Supply. Since both inverters I have need repairing it's best to repair the newer one (by 1 year an '04 vs an '05). There was a change to the control boards between those two years and it does make a difference. The '04 would be cheaper to fix if it was going back into it's original motorhome but since I would be putting it into a newer coach more updating would be needed and the expense would go up. Cheaper to fix my original inverter in the long run. Lessons like this sure can hurt the wallet.

I have did a quick fix to solve my power to the coach. I opened up the converter box and took the power out wires and put them with the power in wires. The converter still runs and charges the batteries. When money permits I will replace the converter with a new one. I should be able to operate with this fix until then...."

Are you sure your problem is with the 2012?

It sure sounds like it is the IOTA main transfer switch (switches all A/C coming into the coach from genny to shore power)

This device is located in the drivers side rear compartment, where your power cord is.
It is the subject of a current recall due to arcing caused by connector lugs not being tightened enough.

It's worth a looksee just for that.

Good plan. Given my repair cost I bought a new one with a 2 year warranty. I didn't consider upgrading to a MS unit for other reasons.

My remote does not display any code nor does the fault light come on indicating a problem.

I called Magnum yesterday and went through some checks with them and they couldn't figure it out. They told me to take it to an authorized service center (ASE Supply in Portland, OR). I talked to the tech at ASE who told me it is probably the internal transfer which makes sense.

Problem: Inverter does perform inverting from house batteries.
Inverter will not charge house batteries, pushing the on button for charging does nothing.
Inverter does not pass through 120v shore power when plugged in or 110v when genset is running. No fault codes.

I installed an old ME 2012 that needs repairing also but does just the opposite charges batteries, passes through 120v and 110v power to the coach but does not invert the battery 12v (DC Overload).

To me this is what the OP was describing as his problem and Magnum said to take it to authorized service center.

BTW The tech said that my relays did show a little bluing on the contacts - 2009 MH. Didn't like to hear that as I always remove all loads except the refer before disconnecting from AC.

For repair I recommend that you use a authorized repair center. A normal tech will likely send it to one anyway.

The tech where I went knew the product and had a complete bench setup with AC/DC power and loads for testing.

Actually I'm wondering why both of you don't have AC. I would expect that the ATS would default to the AC input. After all it's just a relay.

I'd try this, perhaps call Magnum first: Disconnect the DC and see if that allows AC on the output. If you do this be safe: Remove the negative DC cable from the battery, then the positive cable from the unit and secure it very well, then reconnect the battery cable.

But these are temp patches and in the end it will need to be repaired.

If you are on the road a temporary AC bypass is possible and you'll need a charger.

I bought a auto charger which was barely adequate on shore power. We had planned on 2 weeks on the gen and canceled that plan.
