- Desert_CaptainExplorer IIII think the presence of that sticker is a joke but given that they usually charge for it the joke is on the buyer. :R All of the Nexus' are built to RIVA standards and most likely the ticker just got scraped off at some point.
Our 2012 23P did not come with a ladder and frankly I have never missed it. I have a nice ladder at home and if I ever need one on the road just about every Class A and fiver out there has one that can probably be borrowed.
:C - pnicholsExplorer III would not buy a Class C motorhome without a solid built-in roof ladder.
The roof area takes maintenance ... sometimes at home or in storage and sometimes to fix surprises that occur while out and about on trips. How on earth you gonna safely get up there by squirming sideways off a step ladder or by contorting to step off a ladder propped against the side ... and are you going to carry the unsafe folding or telescoping ladder along for emergency roof access while on trips?
I won't list the routine and emergency maintenace reasons to be up on the roof of one's Class C. That's a topic for another discussion.
If RVIA means anything at all (I believe it does and appreciate it's tag showing on my RV.), then one of it's requirements should be that RVIA compliant Class C motorhomes have built-in roof access ladders capable of taking, say, ~300 lb. climbers up there year after year without developing leaks at their attachment points. - SDcampowneroperExplorerYes. RVIA certification is a necessity to license your unit as an RV, otherwise your local AHJ may refuse you highway license or even tax it as real property like a mobile home.
A really nasty battle between HUD Rv definitions and RVIA was just deferred in HR 5658.
RVIA & ARVC plus thousands of parks all over protested HUDs proposed change of definition concerning 'park model' rvs that have a limit of 400 sq. ft. to include manufactured porches thus making them manufactured housing subject to different rules and tax structure.
Get that sticker, or walk away. - bukhrnExplorer III

Perhaps in SD, but I can guarantee you that here, no one from DMV will look at your RV when you go to register it, as you only take the paperwork, not the RV, same as the Dept. of taxation, no one will come to see if you have a sticker on it.

Local assessment officers may. Let HUD give them a reason, they will be out to get the MONEY . - IAMICHABODExplorer III cant say much on the RVIA cetification sticker as necessity to license your unit as an RV,but Insurance may be a problem.
When I went to insure my RV at AAA The agent read a list of questions from a computer screen, ya that type of world,Year, model etc,etc.......
one was if It had a RVIA sticker. They also took pictures of it,inside and outside.including a closeup of the sticker.
It may or may not had anything to do with me getting insurance or not,but I did have to have it on premises for inspection and photos.
It may only be my insurance company but you never know.
I would suggest asking your insurance company about it before I bought it. - All58ParksExplorerHmm, I peeled mine off, it was ugly. No one, insurance or DMV, has ever asked about it on any of my RV's for the last 10 years. Traded them in without the sticker too, no problems.
- westernrvparkowExplorerI wouldn't be a bit concerned about a missing RVIA sticker. For all we know, the previous owner removed it. I don't think you can ever come up with an incident where not having the sticker caused anyone any legal problems. I believe it is a voluntary organization and carries no legal weight. Similar to the Energy Star certification on appliances. It is possible that a RV park would use the lack of an RVIA certification as a reason to exclude an undesirable rig, but that would happen with a home-built rig, not a mass produced RV.
As for the ladder, I have heard from several of our guests that manufacturers are eliminating ladders from the production runs. If you look at a standard ladder at home depot, the dozen or so warning stickers will give you the reason why. Some dufus has probably sued a manufacturer when they fell of an ice covered rung during a snowstorm. No ladder, no liability. - OFDPOSExplorerJR257
Run away from this scam/deal as fast as you can! Without the sticker my imaginary friend at DMV says you'll get 10 years in the pokey without it.
Oh and you'll never be able to register it too !
NOW
Tell me where this illegal non stickered 24P is and I'll deal with it ! :)
No No really don't thank me for saving you the hardship and stress you will endure if you go through and buy it, really there's no need to.
Your welcome in advance !!
Just tell me where it is !!! lol - rcmiller32ExplorerIf you like at some of the RV builders web site under specs you will find the RVIA sticker is a option or is part of some packages. In some cases it says that for some areas it is required. I believe on our spec sheet it showed it under options.
