Power levelers question

Well I may be in the minority, but my BIL has a class A and he has to manually level his. My class B+ has them and if ya just push the button, yes they will activate and all, but level?? I now just manually level the rig using them. As to just hit a button well I guess if you are on concrete pad it might work, but if on soft soil, or on tarmac when its hot all that may also change. The pads are not that big on a cl c and they will sink into the dirt if there is not some other firm support. Just like with a TT or 5th wheel. Weight is weight and it has to have some support sometimes. I have also parked on inclines and if we didnt have some boards to block with we would be SOL! Yes they are nice but not the panacea some suggest. There is still work to make them work right. My rear legs will lift the rear wheels and make it off kilter F-R, front legs just do not deploy like the rears. These BTW were factory installs. Just read up and see the items that CW sells for putting under the levelers, the magazines also have conducted some tests using the pad support to see which worked the best, and yes they stressed the problems on soft dirt and asphalt/tarmac when its hot.

I do not have them on my MH, but I sure wish that I had them installed when I purchased it. The blocks get old real quick as I get older. One of these days I will get around to having a manual system put on. JMO

The next motorhome we buy will definitely have automatic levelers. It was an option when we bought our current motorhome, but I didn't think it would be worth the money. Automatic levelers = $3,500 option vs a box of Lynx Levelers = $30. I figured the $3,470 savings would buy a lot of gas. I wish we sprang for the option.

That was reinforced on our last trip. The first day we got there I leveled the camper, but didn't put the stabilizers on. That night we had a storm with lots of wind and rain. The wind was strong enough to rock the camper. The next morning I noticed we weren't level anymore. The lynx levelers actually sank under the front passenger tire. Had to re-level, then I put the stabilizers on. After a few weeks the guy camping next to us asked if we were still level (he arrived the week before us). I explained the above and also told him that we weren't as level as we were after I re-leveled. It wasn't as bad as before so I didn't bother with fixing it. Fortunately for him, he had automatic levelers.

By the end of our trip, 6 weeks, we were noticeably out of level.

by all means get them. We have hydraulic on our 31' class c and love them. fast and reliable. Definitely levelers, not just stabilizers. They will pick up the whole coach if needed. Several times have had the front wheels off the ground. I like the auto system myself, I can be doing something else while it takes care of business. Worth every penny to me.

And just once, leveling by hand in a pouring rain, makes the price more reasonable.

They are great and reliable....I can recommend Bigfoot.....we have them on our Class 8 Super C and they make life easy....

I agree with what some other folks have said. If you have the option of getting them with the rig then go for it. I would probably fork out the money to get them installed if I could find someone to do it around here. My next rig (when ever and whatever that is) WILL have them.

In the mean time though I've cut down setup time with leveling with these two deals:

Anderson leveler

Camco leveling scissor jack socket

The scissor jack socket just goes in your cordless drill. I always bring my 20v DeWalt cordless drill with me. Don't use the jacks for leveling but zipping down the jacks in 5 seconds makes setup time faster anyways.
