- rv2goExplorer IIWhen mine did that, a simple lube job took care of the problem. Hope yours is just as easy.
- Roman_DuckExplorerHad a simular problem with ours, turned out that the hinge assembly accidently got bent. I was able to bent back with some elbow grease, Now I'm more careful when we leave the blacktop.
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerI just cleaned our step yesterday. Ours was not going all the way back in which caused the 'step out' indicator light on the dash to stay illuminated.
I got an old toothbrush, sprayed simple green on the tracks and brushed, sprayed and brushed the ball bearings as best I could, then rinsed with water. Works well now.
MM. - deejay41ExplorerSprayed mine with wd-40, problem solved.
- Hank_MIExplorerIf it's a typical Kwikee step they run one way or the other until they meet enough resistance. A thermal switch in the motor opens and the controller cuts all power. Usually that's fully extended or retracted. If the hinges are binding it may be somewhere in between. Try lubing it up and see.
- gboppExplorerI had the same problem with my kwikee steps. Clean the dirt from all the joints and lube. That may be all it needs.
I wouldn't use WD-40. - Southwind98ExplorerWhen our steps had the same problem it was a missing bolt underneath.Must of vibrated off. Replaced it and all was well.
- RVUSAExplorerWhen mine did that, it was because the idiot blinds guy beat on the housing too much. Never let a blinds re-stringer beat on your rv with a hammer. :M

A blinds guy, what was he doing down there by your steps? - chili_s_tripExplorer II

The power step extends part way. Problem started with a hesitation while extending and now extends about 1/2. Any simple fix? Thanks

Thanks for all your feedback. I ended up hiring a mobile guy who replaced the motor/gear assembly. 3 broken bolts and unavailability of separate parts meant buying the whole assembly for $280, total cost $550. Thanks.
