questions on parking dp vs gas on grass

I hope this isn't too dumb a question... When I see a DP for sale, like online, is that the height they are going down the road or does the air ride raise it more? My 2005 Georgie Boy 35 gasser is parked next to my house, on a gravel pad. I back it up over my yard. Is the DP lower? The gasser is already pretty low, the jacks aren't very high off the ground. I don't think anything lower will work without having the yard recontoured. Also, can I back it over the yard? It looks like a 45 dp with tag is twice as heavy. Can you lift the coach with the tag or with the air bags without modification? Finally, my grave pad is about 4 or 5 inches deep of big 2 inch rocks. It is level, so the gasser parks there and doesn't sink, I assume a DP would be okay? I'm hoping to move in a year or so, so I don't want to put in a new concrete drive and pad.
I'd hate to buy it and not be able to park it! Every storage place I've parked I ended up with busted mirrors, scrapes, and $$ repairs. Covered storage is like $500+ a month!!! Yikes!

Thanks very much. I'll get it done, one way or the other.

If I read your question correct, with the motor running the air bags will inflate. This will cause the coach to raise up, which will make it higher off the ground. Thus over all height will be higher than gasser. Once you turn things off one of two things will happen air bags will stay up or deflate . I have an older coach my air bags will deflate as soon as I start the jacks to go down. If I do not do the jacks the bags will slowly loose air. For ground to frame height remember dp tires are larger also.

I get really worried any time I deal with grass. Either driving on or parking on. Was at a rally couple years back, was parked on grass. Saw three dp sunk up to axels trying to get out. My jacks with enlarged foot print sunk two inches. You be the judge

I drive on grass all the time. We park there too. Unless its extremely wet its never been an issue.

As to the height question, ours raises a bunch when its aired up.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

I've seen many a DP sunk in grass. Be careful.

My coach weighs in at 49,650 pounds. Make sure your 'grass' can hold that. Also, pray it doesn't rain just before you're ready to head out. DPs are much heavier than gassers.....Dennis

Wow! 6" is a lot higher than I expected. An extra 6" would be easy. My jacks aren't 9" off the ground on my gasser.

Never measured ... 6” maybe
. And yes just hold the raise switch . I use it if I’m in a sloped drive so I don’t drag the rear. Good luck !

Thanks Bill. How high does it go with the raise switch? I'd only have to go 40 ft, I assume I could drive it that far raised?

Dp,s I’ve had all sit lower than gassers. In many cases you can raise them with the air bags but only while holding the raise switch , they return to ride height as soon as you release the switch.
Personally I wouldn’t be driving on grass that wasn’t bone dry and hard packed . The weight and highway tires can get you stuck ( personal experience ) very quickly. I park on my bro in laws gravel pad when we visit and the gravel compresses to tracks so I quests gravel if compacted like a driveway is fine but it needs to be compacted.
If it’s close by maybe a test park just to make sure ?
