Anybody have one of these smaller Class A's? Was wondering how the quality was on them and any known issues (i.e. delam, rot, etc...) and how you felt about them.

Would love to know what type of coach frame they have (i.e. wood, steel, aluminum) and any known issues with the chassis or handling.

BTW, it's an '02 Chevy

Believe me, from all the mechanical inspections I do, I also "hope for more". It is amazing how few take care of these complex machines.

Many are treated just like their automobile-- put gas in it and go. No or little maintenance at all.

That is why you really have to inspect closely and either find that gem out there (and they are out there) OR subtract from the price what it will take to make it a gem (far more common).

I understand exactly what you are saying Brett. I guess I was just hoping for more.

Totally agree with part of your statement, John.

PPL has consignment coaches-- with a wide range of how they were cared for. The salespeople, for the most part, have very little history/records on these coaches. I have seen (and inspected) some real dogs there and some gems.

Suspect you will find exactly the same range of conditions were you to go to any RV park or RV storage lot in the country.

The good news is that they have a huge selection and turn over a lot of coaches. Find one that is a gem, not a dog.

No, PPL does not recondition coaches before they are put on the lot. Actually, that may be a GOOD thing, as you can really see how the owner treated them.

Well just got done looking at it. I am really disappointed in PPL. After hearing all of the high praise on this forum I thought I might have stumbled across a good coach that would fit our style of travel.

The coach was junk, in the picture I thought I saw some delam so I called prior, "nope, just shadows" was the answer I got. Well the delam was exactly where I saw it, the coach was filthy, and the lack of care was evident everywhere. Oh yeah, the appearance was rated as a "very good."

That was the first time to PPL for me, and all I have to say is they are on equal with any respected local RV sales place in your home area. Those on the forum that boast of their quality, well I wouldn't spend the money to fly there that's for sure.

Had an 03, 30 footer with one slide for 8 years. Loved it. The 8.1 chevy motor really pushed it down the road and when keeping my foot off the throttle I could get 8-9 mph. Sold it with 79,000 miles and it was not using oil.
good coach also
