Removing old sealant from fiberglass roof

I need to replace the Maxx Aire Fan Dome on my Airstream Land Yacht. Any tips for removing the old sealant and sealing the new fan? I've done a similar job on a metal roof but with a square fan using butyl tape and lap seal. Thanks in advance!

    Instead of a plastic scraper, look at using plastic razor blades... you can get them at most auto supply places ( Advance Auto, etc.) They are safe and do a good job and don't flex like a scraper.

    This is how I did it a couple of years ago. Was a slow process, but once you get started should not take more than 1 hour, at least that was how it went for me.
