Would like to hear from anyone, that has replaced carpet with Pergo, allure, or vinyl.
Did slides have to be adjusted.
I have a 2000, Intruder, raised slide. Will not be replacing carpet under couch, or table & chairs.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Hope to do labor part, myself.
Will try to post pictures when done.

Thanks again,

Don't listen to any dealer. They obviously want to sell you a new or used unit.
Slides are about 5 different types:
1- no rollers, and glide along the main floor
2- no rollers, and the super structure is under the floor and the slide does not touch the floor
3- rollers embedded in the floor, these rollers never move
4- rollers on the slide. These are attached to the slide and move when the slide moves
5- rollers on slide and embedded in floor.
Neither time does a slide need to be removed.
Don't listen to any dealer- unless you have the desire to give him large quantities of cash

will take pics and see if we can upload them here.

yes, we removed carpet/pad from slider. was simple. you will need a very sharp box knife and pull out all staples from pad that are stuck on underlayment.

we were fortunate not to have rollers under slide. there are slide bars. at first there were black marks on new allure only at each end of slide. black marks came from a sealant I so crazily put on exterior for water penetration. cleaned marks and put two long rugs in front of slide so when slide lifts to come in, it catches the rugs enough to lift them so not more marks. YEAH!

Most slides have rollers that they move on. National RV,I had one, is the only one I knew of that did not have rollers and just slid on the bottom of the slide. I put vinyl in our Kountry Star and the slide required no change

My 2001 NationalRV "Dolphin". Wanted to pull carpet and put laminate down. RV dealer (of purchase)said not to....the slide might/would scratch the laminate.
So...I shampoo the carpet once a year.

No, no adjustments but I would implore you to take a look at how the slide moves across the carpet. Does it leave a compressed area under it or wear into the carpet real hard? Or does it leave black marks? If so then it may rub against the new flooring as well.
Contrary to what many think, most slides don't actually have wheels under them that travel with the slide. What rubs is just the bottom of the slide and if you have black marks then it's from the slide moving over its seal.

So dtappy you took out the carpet on the slide too? I would like to see pictures of how you used the vinyl cove molding for the transition!

we replaced carpet/pad with allure in 5ver main floor which includes large slide out galley.

no slide adjustments had to be made to the slide.

did project in late summer when weather was 75-80 degrees. allure needs to acclimate to rv before installation. used vinyl cove base (turned upside down) on end of slide to create a transition from slide to main floor. secured it with narrow threshold strips and screwed with short wood screws to keep floor from moving on slide.

also used wood corner round along kitchen cabinets/refrig/stove to create finished look. used vinyl cove base around perimeter of inside of galley.

was uncomplicated. took approx. 4 days of work between removal of old carpet/pad and new installation. there are instructions on-line on how to do it.

love the way it turned out.

Nope. No adjustments. We also have a raised slide. I did anchor the first run under the slide though. Counter sunk # 8 screws. Just in case. ๐Ÿ™‚ The rest is floating.

This is a pergo floor. Its also a heated floor. Nice and warm on the feeties. ๐Ÿ™‚

Can't help much with the slide issue, but if you go with allure flooring, make sure every staple or nail is hammered or pulled out before the install. And vacuum thoroughly, anything under it after the install will be very noticeable. If you look at my posts, I put up some photos of the project. Good luck.
