- DocdoorExplorerI see your problem, with the two bolts from the ceiling. I used a Sharp product which is what I was replacing so no modifications were required. That being said, the Sharp product uses a wall bracket and two long diagonal bolts from underneath near the front at 45 degree to the top of the wall bracket. With this configuration most of the weight of the microwave is carried by the wall bracket. There is still two screws through the upper cabinet that take up some of the weight, maybe 10%. You maybe able to use screws and screw upward into the ceiling, from behind the exhaust grill at the top of the microwave.

What make and model do you have?
I replaced my Sharp R-1850A Convection with a Sharp R-18800LS
I determined that they used the same mounting bracket, hence would attach to my existing mounting plate. I used the following web site https://partstore.com/SearchResults.aspx?q=r1850&SearchTerm=True and noted that they both used the same unit mounting bracket part # FANGTB003MRY0 . if you go to the site click on the "unit mounting bracket" then click on "compatible models"
We're replacing a GE Profile JVM 1490 SD oo3 1.5
Two issues ... the first being the long bolts in the front corners running up thru the top into the ceiling (no upper cabinets) .. and having a door hinge that keeps the door flush with the unit when the door opens. we have a cabinet along side the unit - hdeddie1ExplorerRodger, Thank you so much. Maybe you could call me if that will work for you and I can give you the info. My number is 360-319-4354. If that won't work I can send you a PM if I can figure out how to do that. Thanks again. Ed.

Not a convection model. It did not have long bolts. We sank three thru the top cabinet and a number thru the back wall support backet which required a two inch spacer.
We also bought a "matching" stainless steel Oster convection/toaster oven. It fits in the dining table hutch cabinet. - hal1phxExplorer

It depends on the model number. We just replaced ours last week. There were two large bolts that went thru the bottom of the cabinet above it and there were also two bolts that were accessible from the bottom of the microwave once the panel was removed. Those bolts were quite long and attached the microwave to the mounting bracket.
So the question is ... do all the Convection/Microwaves allow for the very long bolts to be used .... what unit to you get ????
thx ..... all great info guys ... much appreciated - DocdoorExplorerEd
Ok! I'll let you know how I make out, hopefully Friday or Saturday. - hdeddie1ExplorerIt's the key pad.If you pull off the top vent grate on the front you will see a screw on tnhe top of the key pad. Then the key pad will pull down and out. After that there's a plug disconnect it and the key pad will come detached from the microwave itself. Thats called the power panel. And I think, I hope that part will solve my problem. If I went to buy it new it costs 100.00. And if it dosen't solve my problem I can't return it. See my delema? Certanly I will pay for shipping, and more if it fixes my problem. I couldn't find it in a scrap yard anywere. Thanks in advance.

Now what do you mean by the power panel? where is located in the microwave? I may not be able to get it for a few days, probably by the end of the week.
