Roof top satellite dish and warranty

That makes a lot more sense - more in line with installing any accessory such as awnings.

Now I still think the Dealer showed some disinterest in doing it because it was your antenna and not one they were selling you.

I want to update this posting because I did get a follow-up email from Tony Hufnagle with Forest River concerning the Satellite dish installation. Basically FR follows the same warranty restrictions that the others follow which is IF there is a leak problem with the satellite dish installation, that would not be covered by the roof warranty. It does not void the entire roof warranty. Here is some of his reply:

I apologize that I was not more clear in my previous email regarding your question. Installing a satellite dish on the roof of your trailer doesn’t void the warranty but it does create a potential for loss of warranty coverage. If you choose to have a satellite dish installed on the roof of your RV and then a leak occurs due to that installation or lack of maintenance of the seals on the satellite, this would not be covered by your warranty as it is installation-related. This is what I meant by my previous email.

They can attempt to void the warranty, once they prove that what you did caused the damage, per Federal Law, Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Under Forrest River's restrictions, you couldn't add vent covers, solar panels, antennas, GPS antennas, or even a cover while in storage. I wonder what their position would be if they started to receive a lot of negative press over their public policy. I bet they would have a new policy in about a week.

This seems like arguing about the color of hair bigfoot has. What's that, there is no bigfoot? Well, there isn't really a warranty on the roof either. I suppose if it leaks in the first year you "might" have some coverage. The 10-year thing is just a warranty that the materials won't fall apart. I wen't down this road asking about water intrusion and extended warranties. I was pretty much told there is no such thing.

It is NO. Your ENTIRE roof warranty will be voided on a Forrest River RV even if the authorized dealer installs a satellite dish on the roof.

I know that you usually side with the manufacturers but have you read my posts??????
I said that we had asked the FR dealer to install the Satellite dish on the roof of a brand new RV and they said that it would void the warranty. Even the cut and paste that you posted mentions CONTACT THE DEALER, which we did. The whole point of this post was that even if you contact the dealer and you want THEM to make the modifications needed to install a satellite dish on your brand new RV, it WILL void the entire roof warranty. All of the stuff that you posted about a permanent resident, full timing, or leasing, does not apply at all.
You mentioned that your shop had dropped Forrest River products so maybe this post will warn others, since I had not previously seen any post by you, or anyone else, about how they will void a warranty if a Satellite dish is installed, even if it is by their own mechanics.

I've always felt released from "probation" when the warranty expired!

Believe it or not one of the things that they advertise is that you can walk on the roof. They call it a "Full walk on roof".
They also say that the roof has a "12 year warranty" but I an assuming that that warranty defaults to the material manufacturer rather than Forest River.

Is the roof warranty voided if you walk on the roof with more lbs weight 2-3x times the SK-3005?
