RV Cover Damages Rubber Roof?

My husband just winterized our Class C motorhome. We purchased an ADCO all weather cover. I mentioned that we covered our motorhome and was told that we should take it off as it causes holes to the rubber roof. I was told by our Service Dept that the covers were good because it protects the rubber roof and the motorhome from UV and other weather elements.

We are newbies and now I am concerned that we paid lots of money for a cover that might ruin the rubber roof. Has this been an issue for anyone else? We have a 2017 Thor.

We live in South Texas.

The bras were vinyl and tightly fitted over a high gloss finish. The Rv covers are a softer material and not tightly fitted.

Thankfully the car bra went the same route as spinner hubcaps.

I have no personal experience, but I heard it's a good idea to place large beach-fun inner tubes on the roof along side the a/c unit(s) for better off-cover drainage.

Two years on my TT with a rubber roof and no cover damage. I inspect the roof carefully too.

I used an ADCO on our last TT for 13 years and it never hurt anything.

The only time an RV cover does damage to anything under it (sides or roof), is when they are not tied down tight and allowed to flop in the wind. You'll have no problems with your, as long as you tie it tight and allow no room for anything to flop around. Roof will be fine!

Some people report problems with RV covers scratching the fiberglass/sides of the vehicle (wind flapping the covers) but I have yet to hear about cover damaging a rubber roof.

I have used a cover on ours for 6 winters without any wear on the roof.

Welcome to the forum. I've used a cover on our 96 southwind for several years. It does not cause any damage.
The cover will protect your roof from sun and weather damage.

Who told you a cover causes holes in the roof?

My suggestion, never take any RV advice from whoever told you this.
now I can see if it is very windy and the cover is not tight and excessively rubs on the top, some issues may occur.

There is no way an Adco cover will ruin your roof. Whoever told you that is 100% wrong.

Some folks use one of those "blue tarps" which do not breathe and CAN scratch the paint on your camper, but I don't think even those would ruin your roof beyond perhaps promoting mold growth.

I've had an Adco cover now for 6 years. The camper is pristine and the cover still going strong.

Cover away, and don't worry about the misinformation you've been given about rv covers ruining a roof.
