I was trying to figure out why the toad became unattached. I can understand it if he had a simple hitch arrangement, but wouldn't the cables hold?

Strange thing about this incident though. Seems TWO good samaritans are trying to take the hero badge..and, one news said the GF went to the back to get dressed and another said she was looking for her cat. Scratching my head on this one. I guess I'd sure save my wife, not so sure about my girlfriend..:W...Dennis

The guy surviving did not say it.

Correct. The City Council VP said it, not the owner.

Apparently God didn't bless the MH and its owners.

You apparently missed the part where they are alive.

Rolling down the road on fire, you don't see that every day.

I would hope that I would remember to get my girlfriend/wife out of the camper.

"I pulled over, thank God we were able to get everything out" except his girlfriend? Left her in back? Also says they lost everything. I wonder if there were smoke detectors? Seems to be some inconsistencies in reporting maybe. If it was a diesel I think the brakes should've held. The drums might've expanded but the springs should've kept applying pressure.

At any rate the amount of fuel in an rv is staggering. The propane is certainly the most followed by fuel tank and next all the combustible components like wood fiberglass and insulation. very scary stuff!!!!

Good idea!

Article/video stated RV caught on fire in rear ....driver pulled over. AND THEN brakes went. (It was parked for several minutes before it started rolling backwards)

Also GF was rescued from MH ....bystander went in and got her out. Found her laying on floor while it was still stationary. Both treated for smoke inhalation.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

If fire started from rear brakes eighter from air leak that allowed them to be dragging an rv kept being driven they would eventually heat to the point they would not hold at ALL due to drum expansion an other tech things happening to brake lining an an drum surface
Remember only rear wheels serve as parking brakes. So if brakes were BOTH heated to point they did not hold rv would keep rolling That is what happens when tractor trailers are sometimes found on runway ramps on steep hills. Most are not on fire but very close to that point

I thought that a complete failure of the air brake system would lock the brakes down and the motorhome would not roll. The coach still had momentum even with the tires exploding making them flat.

Maybe in their haste to get out they never set the parking brake so the rig just rolled. Otherwise a loss of air would have applied the brakes.
