Tag axle pressure

How do you check the tag axle pressure. I have no readout on the dash that I know of ???

AR, this is funny. You started the thread, why don't you tell us exactly what you want to know.

Your post is titled 'tax axle pressure' which would make me think you are talking about the bag pressure on the tag axle. If you were referring to the tires, you would have said tire pressure on the tag axle.

  • Adjusting it by the gauge in the engine compartment will work for an estimate but you really need to go to the scales and do your adjusting there based on your weights. Remember added pressure on the tag increases the weight on the front axle so check that weight each time you cross the scales. After you get it adjusted where you want, then take a look at the gauge and use it for a reference based on your load.
  • Usually hooked to the airbags on the drive axle and run the same P, having a rod attached to the axle or spring hanger which adjusts load height automatically.
  • AikenRacer, there should be a pressure gauge in the engine compartment to tell you how many pounds are on the tag axle (on our Roadmaster Chassis). There should be a notation in your owner's manual for procedures to change that pressure.

On our 2008 Monaco Dynasty, it's in the engine compartment on the driver's side which is easy to see.

  • The old fashion way, an air gauge when tires are cold. Inflate same as rear duals. You may be able to get an after market monitor for them, as the factory set up probably was no tag and RV company added tag.
