Thor Vegas/Axis widespread E-350 Transmission Cable problem

Googled it and found that there is a bad problem with the Transmission cable laying against the rear end of the HOT exhaust manifold and burning thru. It will not allow the transmission to be shifted into Drive when damaged. Look under the MoHO inside the frame member on the drivers side. If barely touching or close total damage may not yet have occured. Strap it away from the heat. Call Ford. Do NOT let them tell you its a Thor problem due to chassis lenghthening. That has nothing to do with this area. :E
  • Took it to the local Ford dealer. Thay took care of replacing the cable under warranty with no hassle at all.

Its a Ford E-350 van chassis problem not necessarily a Thor problem?

    That's my understanding also.
  • Its a Ford E-350 van chassis problem not necessarily a Thor problem?
  • Absolutley. I wanted to give the link because there doesn't seem to be much discussion on this forum about this problem. The thorforum duscussion has a few pages & pictures. It's scary to think this could happen & there's no recall.
  • Not everyone is on that Forum so I thought I'd share this important(Ford E350) problem here also.
  • There was a discussion of this the thorforum: http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8/e350-wont-shift-out-drive-2308.html
