Trailer Hitch

I'm looking to upgrade my class 3 trailer hitch on my 2013 Itasca Sunstar 26 He. The chassis is a Ford F53, anyone have a part number for a Class 4 Reese hitch or any hitch that will bolt up with no modifications.
  • Contact Reese and they should have the correct answer for you. Might have to have a custom one made, since they only list a 5000 lb one.

I've heard people get universal hitches for their RVs if that's what you're looking for? My family member got his from Hitchweb. I believe they come in certain measurements. Maybe give them a call and see if they can get a certain product in for you? Here is their website: Class 3 Hitch Motorhome Universal Fit
  • "jimmycrack"......Typically, you would get answers on a request like yours, to be careful when increasing hitch capacity that the rest of the coach may not be able to handle the weight increase. Hitch capacity is based on; hitch, trans, engine, brakes, cooling system, frame tongue weight and some other things.

Reading your prior posts, it sounds like you're having an issue with getting the proper hitch drop. So I'm guessing you're looking for a stronger hitch that will handle more hitch drop. Here is a thought for you. On two coaches, I've plated and welded (done by a hitch shop) an additional receiver under the OEM receiver.

  • I would wonder what someone with a 26 foot coach ( and hence SHORT wheelbase) wants something more than 5000 on his tail wagging him around! That 5000 lbs gets out of hand for some reason and partner you have bought the farm!!!:E:E
