Triple E Embassy - Help Needed

RetiredHoser

Good Morning,

I am new to forums and to motor homes. Please bear with me when I ask stupid questions and make forum social blunders.

I have yet to purchase my first motor home but I have found one that looks OK.It is a 2003 Triple E Embassy,31 foot,V-10 with 30,000 miles.I do not know the chassis or tranny.

Has anyone had any experience with the Triple E brand of products ?
I am quickly approaching analysis paralysis of the brain as there seems to be so much information out there for rookies like me to absorb.

Any information, opinions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

thank you !

The video is pretty good, kind of explains why I thought how solid my rig was built ๐Ÿ™‚

Yep, I had a Triple E Class C 28XL Senator for ~6 years, but moved on to a bit larger Class A recently. I loved that MH, it was well built and performed well in cold weather. The factory was very helpful if needed, and I was impressed with the way things were put together when I got behind and underneath the surface to maintain and modify things.

We bought a used 97 Triple E 2902 Commander, a 30' Class A with the Ford 460. The unit had 80,000 kilometers when we bought it and added another 100,000. My niece had if for a few years more then moved to a 5th wheel which suited them better. It was working well when she sold it. The cabinetry and all appliances were in excellent condition even after 5 years of Mexican roads.

We moved to a 32' DP with 2 slides since we saw another few hundred kilometers ahead of us. (So far over 100,000 on the Itasca)

We would never hesitate to recommend Triple E products. They are great rigs.

The double glazing and good insulation are very handy to have in both hot and cold climates. They say the furnace will keep the interior at +20C when the exterior is -20C. that's about 68F and -32F.

Mind you, you'd go through a LOT of propane! :E

I believe the problems were with V-10's prior to 2000 or 2001 model year. I had a V-10 in my 1998 Class C and never had a problem. The V-10 is an excellent engine.

Has anyone heard of problems with the V-10 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L engines blowing spark plugs?

They all suffer from a very poorly designed cylinder head. The sparkplug holes face straight up, and are about five inches deep.
They are perfect for collecting water, and debris.

Adding to an already poor design, they saw fit to make the sparkplug hole shallow enough to only allow four threads to engage the spark plug.

There have been reports of sparks plugs being blown out of the head and stripping the threads in the aluminum head.

Apparently round 2001-2003, they went in some cases to a coil on plug,
- whatever that means - and this was better.

Does anyone know if there are after market heads for these engines that are better than the originals ?

As mention by others Triple E is Canadian built and they are less common in the US.

My understanding is the build quality is very high and they are extremely well insulated.

I own a Triple E Commander A3201 which was at that time their highest trim model. Mine is on a P30 with a 7.4

It has 187000 km and the house portion is like new with close to no noise when driving on the road. In mine you barely hear the engine at highway speeds.

Now for the chassis part it's the same thing as all the others so maintenance is the key to success.

Ford chassis to my knowledge are simpler and will require less maintenance because of the solid front axle as opposed to the Chevy independent front end.

Good luck

Triple E stopped manufacturing the Class A rigs about two years ago, but still makes Class C units of very good build quality. The factory is really good about helping out with info if you call them with any issues.

We have a 30 foot 2003 Triple E Embassy, the A30G with the XL package. Have now had it for 3 seasons and love it. It only has 23,000 km or about 14,000 miles on it and we want to start driving it further next season. Actually see a number of these on the road every summer. If you have any specific questions let me know.

Welcome to the forum...

We knew people from Canada that had a Triple E of your vintage-they loved it and I was impressed with how it was put together.

There is a ton of information here-about units like yours and others-everyone's ideal RV as well as use is different-read a lot and ask questions-use the SEARCH function here rather than just 'googling' your RV questions!

There is an awfully lot to learn and experience when you get into RVing-take it all in stride(if you can)-understand that more of the 'bad' gets posted than the good-enjoy the ride!

Welcome to the Forum and world of RVing!

We all start out as newbies so don't worry, we're here to help!

This may help....2003 Embassy Brochure.

It's built on a Ford F53 chassis with a big 6.8L gasser engine...so parts and service are easy to find and you can DIY most maintenabce yourself.

Chassis info!

Good luck...get it checked out by a good RV mechanic first.

You have the Ford chassis with the three speed plus overdrive transmission. The year of your chassis would have to be determined, but if you put the VIN number in on the Ford web site you will see which year. Also if you have Bilestein shocks on the MH?
As you can see our 2003 Motorhome is on a 2003 version of the Ford chassis. The 2003 year had an increase in the HP and the tourque I believe.
Triple E make very good sturdy units that are designed for the Canadian climate. Most people I know are very happy with their Triple E units.
We love our MH and it has been a great unit for us.
